Free Menu Template for a Shop TV: Make One in 10 Minutes, No Signup
Make a menu for the TV in your shop with a free template: the right size, text big enough to read, RM prices, and a picture you can play from a pendrive.
Most free menu templates are made for paper. Put one on a TV and the edges get cut off, or the prices are too small to read from the queue.
Direct answer: start from a template already sized for a TV, 1920 x 1080 for a TV on its side or 1080 x 1920 standing up.
Our menu board maker does that for free, with no account. Type your items and RM prices, then download the picture.
Five Steps to a Menu on Your TV
- Pick the way your TV hangs. Landscape (wide) or portrait (tall). The maker gives you the right pixel size for each.
- Pick a layout. Classic is one list. Columns splits sections side by side. Highlight puts one star item in a big card. Banner puts your shop name across the top.
- Type your sections and items. Up to 4 sections with up to 8 items each, prices in RM. Long names shrink to fit.
- Pick a colour theme. Five themes. Dark backgrounds with light text read best on a bright TV.
- Download the picture. You get a full size PNG, ready for the TV.
Make It Readable From the Queue
- Fewer items. Five or six per section. A customer decides in about eight seconds.
- Big prices. On a 43 inch TV seen from 3 metres, text needs about 40 pixels. Prices read better at 60 or more.
- One star item. Put your best seller in the Highlight card, not ten items in bold.
The full size and distance table is in our menu board size guide.
Getting the Picture on the TV
Pendrive. Copy the PNG to a USB pendrive and open it on the TV. It works, but you walk to the TV every time a price changes. More on that in pendrive versus signage software.
From your phone. Upload the PNG to Layar and pair the TV once. Next time a price changes, you change it from your phone.
Your first screen is RM0, with a small Layar mark and a 10 second Layar slide. Solo removes both for RM19 a month.
